What are essential oils? 

Essential oils are oils gotten from bark, stems, seeds and leaves of trees and have several benefits to the body. When used in the home they give off a pleasant fragrance and clean the air.

Allowing the machine to work for too long can cause nausea or headaches. You can remove the oil tray after a while and allow the machine to work only as a humidifier or pour drops of oil at a time. 

Best practices to maintain your cool mist humidifier 

Essential oils though can be used in a cool mist humidifier they are not exactly built for that. To ensure your device lasts long, here are some best practices

  • Set a routine to regularly clean your cool mist humidifier, daily or weekly. Because oil quickly builds up and may clog and damage the plastic parts of the humidifier, it is essential you clean frequently.
  • Avoid using excessive essential oil in your humidifier. Most cool mist humidifiers come with a separate oil tray where you can store the oil. In this case, you can easily measure the amount of essential oil to use in your humidifier. However, where your device does not come with a tray and you have to pour directly into your tank, pour only drops of oil into the tank.
  • Periodically turn off the device during the day. Because they now emit oil into the air they need the rest to prevent the system from overworking.
